Siak River in Pekanbaru is one of the deepest rivers in Indonesia with its 30 meters depth. Due to some siltation, the depth of Siak River only reaches 18 meters depth in the time being. Dating back to the classical period, Siak River used to be functioned as main trade routes to harbors in Melaka.

From Pekanbaru, Siak Regency can be reached within 2 hours drive. The river is located near the Melaka Strait and the neighboring countries.

You can hop on to traditional boat with a help of the local fisher or use modern water bus that operated by the Transportation Department of Pekanbaru. If you opt for water bus, you are obligated to pay the retribution fee for Rp 15.000/person.
