Al-Munawar is one of the oldest Arabic villages in Palembang. Being in the area, you can spot vintage houses that belonged to the Arabic society since 350 million years ago.
The vintage houses on Al-Munawar are made of ironwood and imported marble stones. The unique shade of the floor emphasizing the traditional and elegant impression of the house. Some of the houses are heritage building that are well maintained by the officials.
You can sight unique architecture on every corner. Wooden benches are neatly arranged to help you feel the traditional atmosphere. If it is still not traditional enough for you, head to the pier where you can also spot another vintage building with its Turkish dome-style.

Al-Munawar is best visited on every Islamic special days; Islamic New Year, Ramadan, or the Mawlid of The Prophet. The residence of Al-Munawar usually held an Islamic art performance called gambus to celebrate the events.
Make sure to cover yourself with decent outfits when visiting Al-Munawar. It is also advisable not to take photos or sit with your opposite sex in public.
